My Favorite Author

My favorite author is Anne Frank. She was one of the million Jewish children who died in the Holocaust,  She was well-acclaimed for her style of writing in her diary, which she wrote during the Nazi invasion period. Her diary was later adapted into several plays and films. I like her style of writing, for instance, The Diary of a Young Girl. It's possible to feel both intrusive and honored at the same time. She has clearly entrusted all of her innermost feelings and thoughts in her diary, and when I was reading her book, i feel sort of like having a close friend gushing her private thoughts to you, trusting you with her most valuable secrets. I feel like my diary wouldn't be so beautifully written when I was that age. Additionally, what's also interesting about the text is how it subtly captures her maturation as a writer. For instance, there was a text which said “Mother’s reading Gentlemen, Wives and Servants, and of course I’m not allowed to read it (though Margot is!). First I have to be more intellectually developed, like my genius of a sister. Then we discussed my ignorance of philosophy, psychology and physiology (I immediately looked up these big words in the dictionary!). It’s true, I don’t know anything about these subjects. But maybe I’ll be smarter next year!” (9/21/1942). Due to Anne’s rather mature style, many conspiracy theories questioned and outright denied the diary’s authenticity. Her ability to examine her own actions, feelings, and neuroses, it makes me feel like it was written by someone older and wiser. And that is the reason why Anne Frank is my favorite writer.

Reflection of North and South

At the beginning, i thought this book was really boring. However, when i look a few page more, everything changes. It's getting more and more interesting. The book is talking about a girl called Margaret that moves to a new place and can't get used to anything. She is very beautiful and many man fall in love with her. The first man that confess became pessimistic after she rejected him. She thinks he is stupid. Later, she met a rich mill owner, Mr. Thronton, and he also loves Margaret, too. Unlike the man, he is very sad but he didn't scold himself or be pessimistic. He told Margaret that he won't give up and will still love her. At last, Margaret falls in love with him and also gave him financial helps.

King Lear

I think the part that i love the most is at the beginning when his three daughters tell him how much they love him. This part shows us that people likes others to say some sweet words, even lies, and will be sometimes angry of the truth. I really like his youngest daughter because of her true heart and honesty. She really loves her father but she cant say such sweet words like her sisters do, so she didn't get any land from his father and his father is mad at her. If i was she, i will be sad and angry with my father because i really loves him and i tell him the truth.

Macbeth

I think this book is a very interesting book and also the most interesting story of Shakespeare's. This story is about an honest general become evil and kills the king in order to get the crown. The general is called Macbeth, which is the same with the story title. I am very enjoying in reading this story because it is very miserable and a little bit horrible. Many people dislike Lady Macbeth by her evilness and cruelness. However, I think she is pretty cool. The quote she said “unsex me” is very masculine. She is sort of brave and is fearless. I really dislike Macbeth because I think he is too coward and stupid. He wants to be the king, but he is afraid of killing the king. The reasons he will success is because Lady Macbeth scold him and make him stay clear of his mind. I wish i can be as brave and as clear as Lady Macbeth, but not the cruel and bad part.

Reflection of Romeo and Juliet

I think Romeo and Juliet's love are not real. They only see each other for less than two hours before falling in love. Well, it might happend in real life, but as we read, Romeo loves a girl called Rosaline before he just meet Juliet. He even told everyone that she is th most beautiful woman. That really confused me of the love he had to Juliet. He tried really hard to break through all the challenges and fight all the enemies to be with her. At the last part of the story, they even die for each other's death. Maybe this stroy containes some true love, but I think Shakespear wants to shows us some people's foolishness of love that is immature or fake.
